Why You Shouldn’t be Embarrassed or Hide Your Scars & Stretch Marks

Boudoir photography is all about capturing the beauty and sensuality of the human body. It’s an intimate and empowering experience, designed to not only help boost your confidence, but to completely change the way you view and love yourself. You may be surprised to hear that so many will talk to me about their scars and stretch marks and feel embarrassed about them, and they’re afraid that they’ll impact their ability to enjoy the experience fully.  But let’s stop right there, okay?

Here’s the absolute, raw truth: scars and stretch marks are not something to be ashamed of. They are a natural part of the human body, and they tell a story about our lives. Scars can remind us of the challenges we’ve overcome, and stretch marks can remind us of the miraculous transformation that our bodies are capable of – whether we’ve gained and lost weight, or whether we’ve grown a literal human inside of us.

When you choose to embrace your scars and stretch marks during your boudoir session, you are choosing to celebrate your body as it is. You are choosing to love and accept yourself unconditionally. And there is so much power in doing that.

Still don’t believe me? Here’s a few reasons why you shouldn’t be embarrassed or hide your scars and stretch marks during your boudoir session:

  1. They make you unique: Scars and stretch marks are a part of what makes you who you are. They are a unique part of your body that tells your story. No two scars are the same, nor are two stretch marks. They are perfectly unique, and that is beautiful.
  2. They are beautiful: Scars and stretch marks can be beautiful in their own way. They can add texture and depth to your skin, creating interesting patterns and shapes.
  3. They show your strength: Scars and stretch marks can be a physical reminder of the challenges you’ve overcome. They show your strength and resilience, and they deserve to be celebrated.
  4. They are relatable: Literally nearly every single human has scars and stretch marks. By embracing yours, you are showing others that it’s okay to have them too.
  5. They don’t define you: Your scars and stretch marks are just a small part of who you are. They don’t define your worth or beauty. You are so much more than your physical appearance.

Why You Shouldn’t be Embarrassed or Hide Your Scars & Stretch Marks. Recognize them as a part of who you are, and celebrate your unique beauty and strength. You deserve to feel confident and empowered, no matter what your body looks like.
